Case Studies: Unity Block Shop Streetwear Design
Modern Streetwear Design Case Study:
Unity Block Shop
Designing for Comfort, Identity and Confidence
How can a streetwear collection feel comfortable and easy to wear while still expressing a strong identity?
Unity Block Shop is the streetwear fashion arm of NAS GraphicX Studio. This in-house project gave NAS GraphicX the opportunity to transform Canadian culture, humor and personal expression into original apparel graphics, product mockups and campaign visuals.
Project Overview
Brand: Unity Block Shop
Creative studio: NAS GraphicX Studio
Project type: Streetwear and merchandise design
Creative direction: Canadian identity, heritage, humour and self-expression
Deliverables:
Apparel graphics, typography, garment layouts, product mockups and promotional visuals
The goal was to develop a coordinated collection with enough variety to appeal to different personalities while maintaining a recognizable visual identity.
The Design Challenge
Streetwear graphics must make an immediate impression, but they also need to work successfully on real products.
Each design had to remain clear across different garment colors, sizes and placements. The collection also needed to feel expressive without becoming difficult to wear.
NAS GraphicX approached the project with three priorities:
- Create graphics with recognizable personality
- Maintain strong contrast and readable typography
- Build a consistent collection without making every design look the same.
Creating the Visual Direction
The collection combines Canadian symbols, expressive typography, distressed textures, street-art influences and lifestyle themes.
Red, white, black and neutral tones provide a flexible foundation. Brighter colours are introduced selectively to create variety and help individual products stand out.
The graphics were designed to work across T-shirts, sweatshirts and hoodies while maintaining their impact in product photographs, promotional banners and social media content.
Canadian Identity Reimagined
True North Totem
The True North Totem graphic combines Canadian heritage with a contemporary, graffiti-inspired presentation.
Detailed illustration gives the design a handcrafted character, while the strong vertical composition creates a clear focal point on the front of the garment.
True North Bear
The True North Bear design uses familiar Canadian imagery in a simpler and more approachable way.
The bear, maple leaf and bold lettering create an instantly recognizable graphic that can be adapted to different apparel colours and audiences.
Canadian Vintage Car
The vintage car graphic introduces nostalgia into the collection. It connects Canadian identity with automotive culture through a detailed illustration and classic visual treatment.
This design expands the brand beyond traditional patriotic imagery while still fitting the broader collection.

Typography With Personality
Typography plays an important role throughout the Unity Block Shop collection. In several designs, the message becomes the main visual element.
Elbows Up Canada
The “Elbows Up Canada” design combines Canadian humour with bold, graffiti-style lettering.
Its energetic composition creates an informal, confident look that works well as a statement graphic.
Canada Will Not Be the 51st
This design uses distressed typography, strong contrast and Canadian symbols to communicate its message immediately.
The graphic was developed as a bold statement piece, with the lettering and imagery arranged to remain readable on apparel and promotional materials.
YO! Whatchu Lookin’ Aat?
The “YO! Whatchu Lookin’ Aat?” sweatshirt demonstrates how expressive typography can carry an entire design.
Oversized lettering and contrasting colours give the graphic a playful streetwear personality while keeping the message easy to recognize.
Expanding the Collection
The Skull and Bones graphic introduces a darker, alternative direction.
Its tattoo-inspired appearance provides variety for customers drawn to edgier artwork, while its controlled colour palette helps it remain connected to the rest of the collection.
Including different visual themes allowed Unity Block Shop to reach a broader, age-inclusive audience without losing its focus on confidence, identity and self-expression.

From Concept to Apparel
NAS GraphicX’s work extended beyond creating individual illustrations. Each graphic was developed as part of a complete product and marketing presentation.
The project included:
- Creative concept development
- Original illustration
- Typography selection and arrangement
- Colour and contrast variations
- Apparel graphic placement
- Product and lifestyle mockups
- Website banners
- Social media and promotional visuals
Viewing each design on realistic apparel mockups helped evaluate its scale, placement, contrast and overall visual impact before presentation.

The Outcome
The completed project gave Unity Block Shop a flexible collection of Canadian, humorous, heritage-inspired and alternative streetwear graphics.
Each product has its own character, but consistent use of typography, contrast and visual storytelling connects the designs as one collection.
The project also produced coordinated visuals that can be used across product listings, website banners and social media campaigns.
Most importantly, it demonstrates how NAS GraphicX Studio can take an initial idea and develop it into a complete collection of apparel graphics and promotional assets.
